MEET OUR CLIENT OF THE MONTH: KRISTY BOISVERT

Kristy Boisvert studied in a variety of visual arts fields throughout her post-secondary education. She has diplomas in Professional Photography and Illustration and Design from Dawson College in Montreal and holds a BFA with a Specialisation in Art Education from Concordia University. Currently, Kristy splits her time between freelance Illustration and graphic design jobs, teaching art, and running her small business.

Fox Point Paper & Design Co. came about after the unexpected popularity of a colouring book that Kristy created as a gift for friends and family.

"It was a bit of a surprise actually;  I made the colouring book just as adult colouring was becoming really popular,” Kristy says. “Since those first few books, which I made by hand, I've sold over 500 copies of that title alone and created two more colouring books. It's been wild!"

Once Kristy decided to open her own business she knew that she was going to need all the help she could get on the entrepreneurial side of things. At that point, she started looking into the range of services offered at YES. Since 2014, she has attended conferences, workshops, participated in the YES Art Expo and to this day, she still meets with her business coach on a regular basis. “The services provided at YES made it possible for me to grow and steer my business in the right direction.” Kristy says.

In the last year, Fox Point Paper & Design Co. has grown its product line to include greeting cards, postcards and prints, along with the original colouring books. They are also selling wholesale, with retailers from Abbotsford to Northbay.
