FIND OUT HOW BRENDAN COTE EXPANDED HIS BUSINESS WITH THE HELP OF YES

The devIT Team: (left to right) Brendan Cote, Chantale Bourgeois, Grant Morse, Shannon Stoddard
Native to the Eastern Townships, Brendan Cote moved to Montreal in 1993 to study engineering at McGill University, graduating in 2000 with a Master’s of Computer Science. He then found work implementing new technologies in IT at a large corporation.  15 years later, Brendan decided to embark on the path of starting his own business, and with his tech background in tow, he founded devIT Solutions Inc., a provider of information technology solutions and website design.

At the start of his entrepreneurial journey, Brendan found a mentor and business coach in Coby Ingram from YES.  Brendan approached his business coach with an idea to provide devIT Solutions’ customers with fixed rate website services.  The challenge he faced was balancing variables like project time commitment and profits with a fixed cost model.  Coby helped Brendan and Chantale (his wife and business partner) tailor their business model, marketing, and branding to achieve this.
Today, 3 years later, devIT Solutions has grown into a 4-person team and provides a myriad of IT solutions, from websites, to surveillance cameras, to office IT administration, to custom software.  Brendan still sees Coby on a regular basis and their discussions have evolved from start-up strategies to how to expand and deal with the challenges of growing into a larger company.

“YES’ Business Coaching services really helped me where I needed it most,” Brendan says.  “When I worked as an engineer in a large corporation, budgeting, pricing myself in the marketplace, marketing, overhead costs- that was all taken care of by the corporation.  As an entrepreneur, you are responsible for everything A-Z, and YES really helped me acquire the tools I needed to take my business to the next level.”
