YES Board Announces New Executive Director
MONTREAL, August 7, 2018: The Board of Youth Employment Services (YES) is pleased to announce the appointment of Aki P. Tchitacov as the new executive director of YES. YES is a charitable non-profit that provides services in English to people who wish to start or restart their careers in Montréal and Québec. Mr. Tchitacov has over 30 years of experience in the non-profit sector, notably as Executive Director of Dans la rue. He will succeed long-time Executive Director, Iris Unger, who expressed her desire to pursue other initiatives earlier this year.
“The Board is excited to have Aki lead the YES team and help us continue the ground breaking work of the past 23 years”, said Doris Juergens, Board President. “As a non-profit executive and community leader, we believe Aki has the understanding, experience and relationships with key stakeholders to pursue YES’ mission to help people find meaningful work in order to be part of our community and contribute to our economy."
Mr. Tchitacov was previously Chief of Staff for the Mayor of the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, and Executive Director of Le Bon Dieu dans la rue, where he supervised the operations of one of Montreal’s largest organizations helping street youth and youth at risk, after having first established the “Chez Pops” Day Centre & Emmett Johns School, Montreal’s first multi-service centre and accredited school for homeless youth.
“The organization will be in good hands with Aki,” said outgoing executive director, Iris Unger. “His deep knowledge of non-profit community initiatives positions him well for leadership of the organization and its mission in the broader community.”
Mr. Tchitacov will officially join the organization on August 13, 2018. The Board of Directors would like to thank Iris Unger, outgoing executive director, for her service and high level of commitment.
