MEDIA ADVISORY & INVITATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YES Brings Pop Up Art Displays and Live Performances to Montreal Neighbourhoods this Weekend

Friday, September 21, Montreal: The media and the public are invited to three back to back What the Pop! art exhibitions and live performances the weekend of September 22nd to 23rd.

60 creative and emerging artists from across Quebec will present their work in three different neighbourhoods in Montreal, giving them a serious platform to showcase their talent and get noticed by the public – many for the first time.

A key objective behind the What the Pop! Initiative is to inspire action by teaching artists how to effectively organize and set up their own pop up events. The pop ups also serve as a training ground to give artists the chance to develop key business skills like marketing, selling, and understanding customers, so they can make a living doing what they love.

Each of the pop up exhibitions will feature a diverse mix of live performances as well as artwork in disciplines ranging from photography, painting, prints, mixed and digital media; fashion, jewelry, and crafts. These events are free and open to the public. Artwork and prints will be available for sale for $5 to $75, with all proceeds going to the artists.

The What the Pop! project is supported by Canadian Heritage.
