LOOKING TO GET YOUR ARTS CAREER OFF THE GROUND? WE CAN HELP!

MEET ALESSIA PRIOLO AND FIND OUT HOW YES HELPED HER COMPANY GROW

Alessia Priolo was born and raised in Ribera, a small town in Sicily. She moved to Montreal with her family in 2009 and studied Science at Concordia University. Soon after graduating, her career took an unexpected turn as she discovered a new passion and aptitude toward event production and entrepreneurship, which she decided to pursue.

Being a musician herself, Alessia soon realized that she wanted to promote the arts and support musicians, which led her to start producing shows, and eventually, to create her own company.

Alessia now runs the Sincop8ed Noize Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports, educates and advocates for emerging musicians. Alessia also founded the Rockalypse music showcase which for the past 4 years has given local bands the opportunity to win European tours.

Alessia had a clear vision: she wanted to support the musician's community through various events and programs, but she knew she needed guidance.

"A common mistake people make when starting a business is ignoring the fact that they need a mentor,” Alessia says. “And then there's the challenge of finding the right one."  This is what Alessia found at YES. Her business coach was able to understand her vision, guide her, and help her achieve her goals.  It didn’t take long for Alessia to see the results from her sessions at YES as she was able to obtain funding for some of her programs through FACTOR (a private foundation for the arts), and is now seeing her organization grow.

Since the onset of COVID-19, Alessia has been very busy. Apart from transferring her workshops online, she began producing a weekly webinar series viewed by hundreds of attendees from across the country, called "Music Industry Talks". Each week, musicians and industry professionals talk about their projects, success stories and failures, and how they broke into the business. Alessia has also co-created an online Music Entertainment Convention called RISE, has co-founded a Music Business School online and is now starting a Music Consulting Business. Alessia continues to perform as a musician and is endorsed by the keyboard company NUmotion.

“I am so grateful for everything YES does to support entrepreneurs, particularly my business coach, for her invaluable advice, dedication and support, for challenging me and believing in me. Thanks YES!”
