MONTREAL – December 6, 2004 – Who says money doesn’t grow on trees? For hundreds of Montreal job-seekers and students, the chance to make some quick cash over the holiday season will start with a trip to the Holiday Job Tree at Youth Employment Services (YES) in downtown Montreal.

The non-profit organization, which helps young people find career jobs announced today the launch of their annual Holiday Job Tree program. The initiative aims at offering university and CEGEP students a quick, easy and free way to find temporary work.

Over 200 job openings from over 30 Montreal area retailers such as Super Monde Des Athlètes, Tristan & America, Buffalo & La Vie en Rose are available. Companies that have posted jobs on the YES Holiday Job Tree are seeking to hire candidates for sales, customer service, cashier and even managerial positions.

“We know that there is a real need for these ‘survival jobs’ among university and CEGEP students,” says Iris Unger, Executive Director at YES. “Many stores are looking for responsible people to work for a few weeks during the holiday period. We’re helping the students and stores get together. The stores are as eager to hire students as the students are to get hired.”

The YES centre is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Students or businesses who require more information about this unique program can contact YES at (514) 878-9788, or stop by the YES centre located at 630 René-Lévesque Boul. West (corner University), Suite 185, Promenade Level.

Youth Employment Services (YES) is a non-profit, community-based organization that delivers English-language job-search and self-employment services to Quebecers.
