Montreal, March 18, 2008– As part of the annual Artist Project Plan Contest, YES Montreal (Youth Employment Services), in partnership with La Fondation du Maire de Montréal pour la Jeunesse, is offering a start-up grant of up to $3,000 to a young Montreal artist. The aim of this grant is to assist an individual who will produce and promote their artistic project with an entrepreneurial nature, in any discipline ranging from visual arts, dance, music or theatre.
 
To be eligible for the Artist Project Plan Contest, applicants must adhere to criteria set by YES Montreal and La Fondation du Maire de Montréal pour la Jeunesse. Deadline for submission is Monday, April 14, 2008. All interested artists are encouraged to attend YES Montreal’s Jump-Start Your Art & Artist Grants and Loans Information Session. This orientation session provides information that is needed to get started as a self-employed artist. Topics covered include grants, loans and other funding options available for various artistic disciplines. The next sessions are scheduled for Thursday, March 27 and Thursday, April 10, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm.
