8th Annual YES Montreal Self-Employed Artist Conference: Business Skills for Creative Souls

Centaur TheatreOnce again, the Annual Montreal Self-Employed Artists’ Conference exceeded all our expectations and became one of the highlights of the year for the artistic community in Montreal. Close to 300 participants were in attendance at the Centaur Theatre in Old Montreal. The famed theatre provided an inspiring backdrop for the full-day of engaging panels, informative presentations and networking opportunities. Andy Nulman began the full-day conference, moderating the morning panel that featured Montreal’s leading luminaries from the fields of dance, acting, writing, animation, fashion design, painting and music. Their inspirational words set the tone for the rest of the day, while speakers continued to provide the audience throughout the conference with insightful information regarding such topics as submitting a request for grant money, law and the arts, and the ‘art’ of self-promotion. The afternoon panel moderated by Dave Cool, focused on “getting the contract”, rounded out what was being declared by the participants as the best artist conference ever!

Question period

The day’s festivities were also marked with the announcement of this year’s winner of the YES & La Fondation du maire de Montréal pour la jeunesse Artist’s Grant, Mr. Christopher Godziuk. Stay tuned for pictures, updates and information on more events on our website at www.yesmontreal.ca.

YES Montreal's Board of Directors & Advisory Council

YES uses the services of close to 700 volunteers a year. Our services are made possible due to the dedication of our volunteers. This is particularly true in the case of our Board of Directors and Advisory Council. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the members of YES’s Board of Directors and Advisors for their time, dedication and wisdom. By sitting on organizing committees, acting as key members in the community, participating in and instigating fundraising efforts, and pushing the mission statement of YES, these unsung heroes are helping YES Montreal solidify its mandate to helping Quebecers find work and start their own businesses.
