8th Annual YES Montreal Self-Employed Artist Conference: Business Skills for Creative Souls

Arts ConferenceHeld annually, the YES Montreal Self-Employed Artists Conference: Business Skills for Creative Souls is an event that responds to the needs of the artistic entrepreneur. With over 300 participants, speakers and special guests, this full-day event comprised of interactive panel discussions and networking opportunities has hosted some of Montreal’s most renowned artists and celebrities including Kevin Tierney (Bon Cop, Bad Cop), Len Blum (Over the Hedge), Yann Martel (The Life of Pi) and Roberto Wilson (Cirque de Soleil). In its 8th year of providing insight through presentations and engaging panel discussions, the Montreal Self-Employed Artists Conference: Business Skills for Creative Souls will once again take place at the Centaur Theatre. Discussions will focus on, amongst others, law and the arts, grantsmanship, and marketing your artistic endeavor effectively. This unique event will be hosted by Andy Nulman (President, Airborne Mobile) & Dave Cool (Program Director, Centre St-Ambroise), with special guest speakers Michelle Sweeney (Singer, House of Jazz), James Braithwate (Animator, “I Met The Walrus”), Mary Catherine Harris (Musician, Third Side Music), Peter Hoffer (Painter), Simon Wayland (Musician, DJ Guapo/Finite Music), and many more. Summer Job Campaign

 

Enjoy the sun :)Looking to earn some cash this summer? Looking for a summer job that is right for you? Don’t pound the pavement, YES has done the work for you! For hundreds of students, the opportunity to make some extra cash this summer will begin with a trip to YES Montreal’s Summer Job Window Display. Job postings for summer & day camp counselors, restaurant staff, retail associates, warehouse staff amongst many others, are hanging in the window on summer-inspired display cards, marking the launch of YES’ Annual Summer Job Postings. Employers have chosen to display their job postings with YES Montreal for this initiative which aims at offering university and CEGEP students a quick, easy and free way to find work during the summer season. The YES centre is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tips for Finding That Summer Job

  1. Get organized!
  2. Decide what type of job you are looking for.
  3. Update and revise your CV.
  4. Always carry copies of your cv with you.
  5. Some jobs are not advertised, so don’t be afraid to approach an employer and ask if they are hiring.
  6. Do not visit an employer during peak hours without an appointment. Instead, visit in the morning or in the afternoon and be sure to avoid typically busy lunch hours.
  7. Dress appropriately.
  8. Be positive.
  9. Smile!Enjoy the sun :)
