On Monday November 10, 2008, YES Montreal, in collaboration with The Counselling Foundation and the Employment Service Roundtable, presents the 6th Annual Quebec Employment Service Providers Conference, a full-day conference on issues affecting employment and career counselors who provide English-language services in Quebec. Participants include career & employment counselors, managers and directors interested in developing their skills and networking with other professionals. On schedule for the full-day event are keynote speakers, interactive workshops, networking opportunities and forums for dialogue.
This year’s focus will be on embracing diversity through a study of values, culture, expectations and perspectives in today’s workforce. Freelance journalist Stephanie Whittaker will provide the opening keynote which will be a segueway to a panel discussion focusing on “Hiring Solutions for Today’s Diverse Workforce”. A networking lunch and interactive discussions will lead up to a presentation from Alan Kearns, Canada’s Career Coach and founder of CareerJoyTM. Voted one of the Top 40 entrepreneurs under the age of 40, Mr. Kearns’ weekly column in Workopolis has become widely accepted amongst professionals facing major career decisions. Mr. Kearns is also certified in the Highlands Career Assessment Methodology and a founding member of the International Association of Coaches (IAC). The day will also include a panel discussion with Gregg Blachford – McGill University, Lynn Lapierre – Ernst & Young, Alexa Davis – Bam Strategy, Dessalen Wood – Airborne Mobile Inc., and Lynda Goldman – Professional Business Writer.
Formed in 1997, the Employment Services Roundtable is a coalition of English-language employment service providers in Quebec. Composed of an extensive network of community organizations throughout the province, the Roundtable provides an independent forum to discuss critical issues unique to English-language service providers.
