YES Montreal's Quebec Youth Employment Conference 2009-03-06

Montreal, QC, March 5, 2009 – YES Montreal (Youth Employment Services), is hosting the Quebec Youth Employment Conference: Working in the 21st Century, a province-wide event giving English-speaking youth tools and advice to find employment in Quebec.

When:             Saturday, March 28, 2009 (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Where:            Dawson College, 3040 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal (and video-
                    conferenced to 9 other regions province-wide)
 
The Quebec Youth Employment Conference: Working in the 21st Century, with support from Canadian Heritage and in partnership with the Community Learning Centres, will be the largest province-wide, youth-oriented conference dealing with issues of employment. This English-language conference links through video-conferencing over 500 youth from 9 communities that, addresses the challenges of finding work in Quebec.
 
 “The idea behind this project comes from a need to link the different regions of Quebec to discuss relevant employment issues facing these youth,” says Iris Unger, Executive Director of YES Montreal.  “Such an event is particularly relevant given the current economic situation.”
 
Through tailored workshops, panels and keynote addresses, participants will be given the
tools they need to find employment in Quebec.Todd van der Heyden will give the
morning keynote address on how he became an award-winning Canadian
investigative television reporter and news anchor with CTV News. Using humour to
convey her message, Meagen Johnson, generational humorist and internationally
renowned professional speaker, will provide the afternoon keynote address
discussing inter-generational issues in the workplace.
