DECEMBER 2010 |
YES' ANNUAL FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN |
YES depends on the support of government and private foundations for some of the funds we need to do our work. But an increasing proportion of our revenues come from people like you, our supporters, our clients: who understand the difference we make, and the difference you can make in our ability to serve our clients.
|
-Over 4000 clients visit YES over 14,000 times a year to benefit from our programs and services.
- An impressive 89% of our job search clients succeed in economically integrating into Quebec.
- We assist over 1200 entrepreneurs and help launch over 200 businesses per year.
- And with YES’ help, over 600 artists are now making a living off their art. |
 |
Help us to continue to start successful futures, and to launch many more...

8TH QUEBEC EMPLOYMENT SERVICE PROVIDERS CONFERENCE |
On Monday November 22, 2010, YES and the Quebec Employment Service Providers Roundtable, presented the 8th Annual Quebec Employment Service Providers Conference. The focus was on ‘Job Searching in the 21st Century’ – with an emphasis on the presence and use of social media in today’s job market.
Attendees were treated to an opening keynote by career activist, Mark Swartz and an interactive open discussion moderated by Johanne Houle & Jane Reichman Van Toch. The afternoon portion featured a networking lunch and a presentation by Julie Gobeil who discussed which industries are looking to hire and the types of expertise most in demand.

YES CLIENT OF THE MONTH: LACY BARRY |
Lacy Barry's "'Self-portrait' 2010"
|
Lacy is a multi-dimensional, multi-platform visual artist & designer working in art direction, prop styling and visual display. Over the past 5 years, Lacy has lived and worked in the UK, USA, Europe, Asia and Canada, art directing photo-shoots for magazines, styling/creating costumes for feature films & TV productions and setting up store displays and windows for various retail locations.
When relocating to Montreal, for what meant to be a summer visit before departing back to the UK, Lacy learnt about YES through a client and fellow entrepreneur. A little uncertain about where she wanted to take her experience and talent, Lacy was able to make contact with Monika Majewski and Douglas Leahey from YES. With Monika’s consistent art guidance and Douglas’s business advice, Lacy was able to find a union between her business goals and her artistic endeavors. Lacy was chosen to take part in the YES Art Expo in March 2010, which opened up many opportunities including a 1st place spot for The Business Grant for Creative Souls, a YES grant that encouraged a kick-start to her personal career as a professional visual artist & designer based in Montreal.
Quickly becoming internationally known for her artistic language, Lacy thanks Monika and Douglas from YES for being a continued support to keep her vision aligned with her goals.
Lacy says, “YES Montreal gives me the tools I need to develop myself constructively, and advance myself to the potential I knew I always had.”

YES wishes Lacy all the best in her projects.
