YES 2013 DIRECT MAIL CAMPAIGN

Do you remember how it felt when you were looking to begin your career; certain that with hard work, dedication and the right support, your career vision could become a reality?  As you know, the employment conditions of young people today are more challenging than ever before; employment and economic conditions have changed and so have the opportunities. Are you willing to pay it forward and help others to achieve their dreams?

When YES was founded 20 years ago, we helped about 120 job seekers; now, we help over 4,500 people per year and we still can’t meet demand. We would love to be able to help everyone who comes through our doors, but we have limited funds.

We do not want to turn people away and that is why we need your help. With your donation, we can provide valuable one-on-one counselling, access to career development workshops, and a safe and inspiring environment for a young person to address the issues associated with unemployment and the challenges of finding a lasting and meaningful job. With just a little bit of extra support from YES, our youth have a much greater chance of securing employment.

We are asking you to join us in this effort by making a gift to help at least one young person succeed.  Any amount will help.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. PLEASE GIVE TODAY.

TUNE IN TO YES7 BENEFIT CONCERT & SILENT AUCTION:THANK YOU!
We recently held our 7th annual TUNE IN TO YES fundrasing event  and it was a success on so many levels!  We saw a great turnout, received fantastic feedback and raised over $83,000 to support our many programs and services.

The evening featured special guest host, CTV's Mosé Persico and a rousing performance from the Boogie Wonder Band. More than 300 attendees were treated to our ever popular silent auction as well as complimentary food, wine & beer courtesy of our valued sponsors.

The amount raised at Tune In To YES7 only partially covers the costs that are associated with meeting the needs of our clients. Thanks to Tune In To YES and other fundraising initiatives like our annual Direct Mail Campaign, the over 4,500 Quebecers who walk through our doors every year will gain further access to the tools and resources needed to transition successfully into the workforce, launch new businesses or turn their artistic passion into an economically viable profession.

Special thanks to all those who attended, donated, advertised and supported this event making it the success it was!

YES RELEASES REPORT: "GENDER BASED ANALYSIS: QUEBEC TECHNOLOGY SECTOR"

From left to right: Andrea Wood (Andrea Wood Consulting), Jill Varley (Status of Women Canada), Jack Jedwab (Association of Canadian Studies), Iris Unger (YES Montreal), Eva Ludvig (Office of Commissioner of Official Languages)

In late October, YES hosted a networking evening for its Women in Technology Program. The event drew members of the tech and  financial communities as well as government officials. The evening was the perfect setting to release the findings of the report: Gender Based Analysis: Quebec Technology Sector.

The Gender-Based Analysis: Quebec Technology Sector study was conducted over a period of 12 months and  includes  research from experts in the field, as well as data collected through surveys, focus groups and interviews.

The study was funded through a grant from the Status of Women Canada, a federal government organization that promotes equality for women and their full participation in the economic, social and democratic life of Canada.

For more photos from the networking event, please click here.
Global Montreal presented a segment dedicated to the report on its evening news. You can view that video by clicking here.

YES CLIENT OF THE MONTH: JOHAN JANSSON
Johan Jansson was born in the south of Sweden in 1972 and developed an interest in photography at an early age. After moving to Germany in 1996 he successfully completed a Masters Degree in Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg, Germany where he further enriched his knowledge in photography.

After living in Montreal for a few years, fast track to 2012 where an artist friend introduced Johan to YES, and for the last year, he has been participating in YES' Artist Program. "This has been the best decision I've made for my artististic career," Johan says. "I'd like to thank the wonderful Monika Majewski (YES' Artist Coach) for her incredibly competent help over the past year. It is a very motivational experience to attend her sessions."

Johan just finished a duo exhibition at Galerie Dentaire in Montreal and one of his portraits was recently featured on the cover of the Montreal-based magazine Fugues. On November 26th, a photo from a new series with a surreal theme will be exhibited at Gallery Juno. Johan's next project, which will be shot at the end of this month, is an exciting, new campaign for a clothing boutique.

Johan continues to receive artist coaching from YES. "Monika has become a valuable part of my progress as a photographer for which I am deeply thankful."

"2013 has been a promising year," Johan says. "I'm looking forward to 2014 with new exciting collaborations and projects."
