CLIENT OF THE MONTH: DANA EL MASRI

It was six years ago, just after she graduated with a BA in Communications from Concordia, that Dana El Masri first turned to YES. After attending several Job Search workshops, she was inspired to forge a new career path for herself : becoming a perfumer (a term used for an expert on creating perfumes and fragrances).

Dana attended the world-renowned Grasse Institute of Perfumery in France and upon her return, with a dream and an idea to start a business, she returned to YES and took advantage of the Entrepreneurship program to get her business off the ground. Three years later, that dream became a reality.

“Ever since joining YES, I have learned valuable tools that I can use to further my business development,” Dana says. “Some business elements don’t come naturally to me, so I sought out the advice of several Business Coaches at YES and they’ve been nothing but supportive and resourceful.”

Thanks to YES Business Coach Lamiaa Zaid’s guidance in particular, Dana has been given several different perspectives on business planning, along with sincere kindness, humour and invaluable advice. “YES has given me the opportunity to meet new people, attend workshops and get the resources I need to continue growing my business. Thank you!”

Dana offers handmade, niche perfumes inspired by songs. Merging scent and sound, Dana blends rhythms and melodies and brings out the powerful and innate feeling of both mediums intertwined. She also offers custom-made perfumes, ensuring a unique scented experience. You can find her quartet at
www.jazminsarai.com and if you would like to learn a little more about the craft of perfumery, check her blog out at www.thescentinel.com.

YES IN THE NEWS: DON'T STOP YOUR SUMMER JOB SEARCH

The biggest mistake is for job seekers to take the summer off from their job search. The secret is: even though it can be slower, employers are still hiring. YES' Executive Director, Iris Unger speaks with Global Montreal's Morning Show host Peter Daganais to show how job seekers can use this 'downtime' to their advantage.
