Direct Mail Banner 2019

YES’ client community – job seekers, entrepreneurs and artists – are some of the hardest hit right now.
In the context of the current crisis, YES’ services are more needed than ever.

We are working hard to ensure that we can continue to meet the needs of our community - by developing easier access to up-to-date resources, providing platforms for connection, support and guidance and creating tools for assessment and upskilling. In response to the surge in need, we have decided to remove all fees for our workshops for the month of April and increased the group size limitations for our workshops so that we may continue to reach and support as many people as possible. We have also committed to moving forward with planned projects with as little disruption to our clients as possible.

Removing these fees and providing continued access to our services is a crucial step in our crisis response,
but it comes at a cost to the organization. If you have the means, consider donating today to help support
the continued open access to programming.

Your gift is a commitment to the future of this province and the people within it.
Every gift, no matter the size, is appreciated.

LOOKING TO GET YOUR ARTS CAREER OFF THE GROUND? WE CAN HELP!

MEET DARNELL KING-RICHARDS AND FIND OUT HOW YES HELPED HIM LAND A JOB IN HIS FIELD

Darnell King-Richards, a born and raised Montrealer, is a recent Electrical Engineering graduate from Concordia University. After his graduation in June 2019, and after numerous responses from potential employers asking for job experience he didn’t have, Darnell was faced with not only the uncertainty of trying to find a job, but dealing with the struggles of transitioning from student life to a professional career.

“I discovered YES through my sister who knew several people that had great success with the organization,” Darnell says. “This advice prompted me to seek out YES with the goal of improving my chances of landing a job in electrical and computer engineering.”

After attending several workshops at YES, Darnell was paired with a job search counsellor to help him customize his resume for specific job postings and create an advanced candidate profile on Linkedin so he can build his network and accelerate his job prospects. "I didn't learn any of these skills in school, but they proved to be just as important as my education."

Darnell also took advantage of our Mentorship Program, which allowed him to have a one-on-one session with a mentor from the software engineering sector. This was the eye-opening experience he needed as it allowed him to better understand the road within his career path that was still to come.

He had some very valuable takeaways from the meeting. “My mentor taught me the most valuable certificates to pursue in order to stand out the most, along with how to directly tailor my CV to match specific software and computer engineering positions.”

“My experience at YES has taught me how to ace my interviews and gave me the chance to fast-forward my career,” Darnell said. “With YES' help, I was able to find a permanent position in my field, with a big company and I couldn't be more excited about this new opportunity! Thank you YES!"
