CALLING ALL EMERGING ARTISTS IN QUEBEC: HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO EXHIBIT YOUR ART FOR FREE!

MEET ALYSSA RAE AND FIND OUT HOW YES HELPED HER TO PROMOTE, EXHIBIT AND SELL HER ART

Alyssa Rae studied Art Education and Visual Arts at Concordia University in Montreal, and currently works as a cultural officer for the City of Dorval. After finding out about YES through social media shortly after graduating, she then attended our annual Business Skills for Creative Souls Artist Conference.

Later that year, Alyssa returned to YES to work with her Artist Business Coach and has been attending workshops and webinars on a bi-monthly basis.

"Prior to my time spent at YES, I was in the process of re-discovering my passion for painting, and struggled with figuring out how I wanted to incorporate this passion into my life," Alyssa says. "I decided that I was most at peace with keeping art as my passion project and not a full time career, because it meant having full freedom to let my own experiences, thoughts and connections guide my work."

Alyssa had originally approached YES with the goals of learning how to promote and expand her business. She needed help creating her artist website/cv, marketing her brand, applying for grants, protecting her artwork online, discovering new venues to exhibit her work, and discovering new opportunities to network with other artists.

"Though I am still learning, YES has provided so many helpful tips, tools, and strategies to set me on my path to success," she says. "The best part is that I am now at a stage where I feel a lot more confident in how I identify as both an artist and entrepreneur."

Alyssa has had various opportunities to display her artwork, some of which has been purchased for both private and public collections, throughout the Montreal community. Most recently, her artwork was featured in the City of Dorval’s public street piano installation, as well as the Artists’ Association of Dollard’s virtual art exhibition.

Currently, Alyssa is creating new artwork, participating in virtual group exhibitions, and experimenting with new and creative ways to promote and expand her business, Art Today by Alyssa Rae, through online platforms. “I am appreciative and grateful for the valuable advice and support from my business coach Gonzalo, from Mariana and for the many services that the YES Montreal community provides.

YES NEEDS YOU, NOW MORE THAN EVER

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has turned the Canadian economy on its head.
And as our country slips into a recession, YES’ services are needed more than ever.

Your support has helped us move quickly to support our community, creating new workshops and tools that support and encourage our clients as they look for a job in an uncertain time, work to keep their businesses open
amid new regulations and struggle to finance their art in a new virtual environment.

When the province went into quarantine, we made the decision to remove access fees for add-on services like skills-building workshops and networking events in an effort to increase accessibility and connection.

The response has been overwhelming, however the fees, while minimal, normally create
an important source of revenue that funds the work we do.

Your valued support helps us continue to offer open and accessible resources and aid to our community.
Your donation funds programs and services that help support vulnerable English-speakers in Quebec
so that they may continue to find social and economic stability within the province.

Every gift, no matter the size, is appreciated.
