MEET MARK LINDENBERG. FIND OUT HOW YES HELPED HIM WITH HIS BUSINESS GOALS |
|
 |
Based in Quebec City, Mark Lindenberg has alternated between full-time employment, freelance English-language writing and editing, and work as a certified French-to-English translator, all over a 20-year career in communications. In 2018, with the help of a friend, Mark went full-time freelance, learning and applying a few business practices (e.g., increasing the number of estimates sent, and conversion rates) more diligently than previous freelance attempts.
"My goal when I started? Pay the rent and buy groceries, consistently, month-to-month," Mark says. “As a freelancer. I'd never done that before." When he came to YES, he was paired with a business coach but his expectations were low. "I didn't want to be there. I like writing, translating, and editing. I don't like running a business." he says. "Marketing is a struggle."
However, his business coach encouraged Mark to build on his strengths, confirming his recently-implemented business practices. "My business coach, Coby Ingham, encourages me to do what I do best: develop relationships. So that's my goal," Mark says. "My greatest professional achievement: a 16-year, ongoing working relationship with the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue."
Another way to build relationships? At his business coach's suggestion, Mark will be sending out greetings during the December holiday season. A reminder like that can help keep you at the forefront of your contact’s mind. |
With YES' support and his business coach's common-sense guidance, Mark now more consistently pays those monthly bills and retains new clients, for repeat business. Happy clients can also lead to referrals. When clients hire Mark, they get experience, skill, attention to detail, and professionalism, all on deadline.
For more information on his translation services, contact Mark.
