WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS ARE GETTING A HELPING HAND WITH OUR NEW ELLEVATE PROGRAM

YES is excited to launch a new project, ELLEvate Women Entrepreneurs, this month. Funded with support from the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund, the program will provide over 1,000 women across Quebec with a blended model of online and in-person workshops to address major barriers to entrepreneurship, as well as an online platform providing access to entrepreneur resources, tools, best practices and networking opportunities.

An annual pre-accelerator program will also be launched to give 30 women entrepreneurs the tools, coaching, counsel, and experience to help them develop and analyze their business, culminating in a contest to provide seed money as they take their businesses to the next level. "When organizations and communities pull together to support women's initiatives, everyone prospers, everyone succeeds and everyone ELLEvates," Ruchy Khurana, YES Business Coach.

YES was joined by women entrepreneurs and our community partners in the Gaspé this  week to launch ELLEvate Women Entrepreneurs

WHAT THE POP! ART POP-UP SERIES: THANKS FOR ATTENDING MONTREAL!

Emerging artists from across Quebec wowed audiences all over Montreal in the 2019 edition of our What the Pop! Art Pop-up Series! Hundreds of people showed up to experience the extraordinary work and meet the 50 artists, artisans, performers and musicians who created unique pieces of art, crafts, jewelry and fashion, and expressed themselves via original live performances.

We would like to extend our special thanks to our funders for helping to make this event a reality, the artists for their creativity and passion, the venues who provided their space, (WIP Gallery, Café des Arts and Church of the Epiphany in Verdun), and last but not least, our tireless, dedicated staff!  FIND OUT HOW CYNTHIA ALLEYNE TURNED HER ARTISTIC PASSION INTO A VIABLE BUSINESS  WITH THE HELP OF YES

Cynthia Alleyne studied English literature and professional writing at Concordia University. After she graduated in 2004, she pursued a number of artistic hobbies while working at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Her creative path led her to rediscover jewelry making in 2010 and while steadily learning more techniques, Cynthia soon decided it was time for her to turn her growing collection of unique jewelry into a viable business.

Four years later, on the recommendation of a friend who was a YES client, she signed up for our business coaching services with the goal of opening a brick and mortar store to bring her creativity to the public.

Cynthia continues to acquire new skill sets, always building toward her ultimate goal while taking advantage of the many entrepreneurship services available through YES.

With the knowledgeable advice of her coach to clear the way, Cynthia’s plans are progressing well. She recently opened her second online shop www.funkyalleybaubles.com before participating in our What the Pop! Art Pop-Up series this past August.

Cynthia believes each event she participates in is an opportunity to connect with fellow artists and future clients. “I'm grateful for all that I have learned from this process,” Cynthia says. “I have an amazing business coach who has been incredibly helpful and informative. Thanks YES!”
